37-year-old wife inherits $2M from grandmother, refuses to help her husband pay off $150K in debt: 'Over the last 2 years, I've given her about $200K'

I hate to say it, but one of the major perks of being married is that you get to combine your finances. If you marry the right person, this allows you to increase both of your net worths and work towards your financial goals as a unit, rather than as two separately acting entities. If you marry the wrong person, you might lose a significant amount of money if you can't see eye-to-eye. There's a reason why a lot of couples keep separate finances, but that comes with its own woes. Imagine asking the love of your life, whom you've taken a vow to be with until one of you passes away, to pay you back $11 for a meatball sub? Isn't that just kind of sad? Some couple keep their finances separate out of pure greed, not wanting their husband or wife to have riches that they enjoy, which also doesn't seem healthy.

The relationship in this story appears to be extremely transactional. The husband feels that he's owed some of his wife's $2 million inheritance because he has given her $200,000 over the past couple of years. He wants this money to pay off $150K in debt he's acquired, and neither of these people seems like they're being particularly mature about this.
